city of palaces in India

Hi travel enthusiasts! This is Deepak Patel exploring royal Jaipur all over again.

Undoubtedly, Jaipur is one of my favourites city in India since it has all that I crave for – a rich heritage, a city of forts and palaces which boast of their spell bounding architecture and intricate carvings and the scenic beauty of this vibrant city.

What Attracts Me Towards Jaipur?

Being the capital of the great desert state and the land of Rajputs, Jaipur has an enthralling history, culture and traditions and this is best known as city of forts and palaces in India. The pink walled old city has abundance of chaotic yet colourful streets with countless little shops lined on both sides. The sight of traditional Rajasthani attires, antique jewellery, traditional jutis impresses shopaholics.

While in the midst of these chaotic busy lanes stands tall the reminders of Jaipur’s historic past. I am talking about none other than the Palace of Winds, Hawa Mahal, Jaisalmer Fort which gazes on the gaudy markets below. When you move a bit more towards the city’s heart, there resides the royal family in the graceful City Palace.

Jantar Mantar is another site of tourist attraction. There is no doubt if I say this is the City of Forts and Palaces in India.

Moving to the outskirts of the main city rests the cenotaphs of the Maharanis which are worth a stroll followed by the fascinating Amber Fort which offers sights of hills surrounding the entire Jaipur city. I personally recommend all tourists to enjoy an early morning elephant ride climbing up to the Amber Fort.

Jaipur is a city known for its impressively decorated elephants more than its camels. Even sunset views at the grand Jaigarh and Nahargarh Forts are something you must not miss. Both the forts stand strong overlooking the entire city and the Jaigarh Fort, which is an impeccable military structure, also houses the world’s largest cannon on wheels.

Experience Heritage Hotel in City Forts and Palaces

Jaipur, being the Land of the Maharajas has ample of royal stays. Many of the forts and palaces have now been transformed into heritage hotels which let you experience living in the royalty style. The Raj Palace hotel, which is a former residence of the royalty, the Jal Mahal Palace, which floats beautifully over water and the Samode Haveli, top the list of the most fascinating royal heritage hotels in the city.

Along with the royal ones the city also houses the freshly constructed luxurious hotels with all modern architecture and intricacies including the Clarks Amer, the Trident Jaipur and the Lalit Jaipur, to name a few. You can always book your stay at the welcoming Jaipur through travel portals which make things easier for you.

I would suggest you to book your tickets for Jaipur in advance, just to avoid any inconvenience later. You can also avail discounts and offers and get cheap flights through booking your tickets via travel portals. Jaipur is also an easy getaway from Delhi and Agra so you can always plan a week off here.

Last Word About the City of Forts and Palaces in India

Regardless of how many days I spend here, Jaipur always has something more to offer. You must note not to miss the spicy Rajasthani food here along with trying its exclusive sweet dishes to relieve your tongue from the spices later. Just like me, you shall also end up praising this city of forts and palaces for its royalty and unbelievable, warm hospitality!
