Ujjain is the city of King Vikramaditya and this city is known for its magnificent temples. There are many places to visit in Ujjain including temples and ghats of the Shipra River. After enjoying very nice time in Omkareshwar, we visited this city to have ‘darshan’ of Lord Mahakaal. Ujjain is a famous historical temple city situated in Madhya Pradesh state in Central India.

1. Mahakaleshwar Temple
Ujjain city is famous for Mahakaleshwar temple, one of the 12 jyotirlingas. The architecture and interior of the temple is not only grand but also designed to offer comfort to devotees while having ‘darshan’ of Lord Shiva.
2. Gadkalika Temple
Gadkalika temple is a popular temple of historical importance in Ujjain. The goddess here is worshiped very dearly as people believe her to be the ‘isht-devi’ of the Kalidas, who became an expert of literature.
3. Harsiddhi Temple
Goddess Harsiddhi is worshiped with great dedication in Ujjain. She has been considered as the ‘ishtdevi’ of the kind Vikramaditya. This temple is known as the source of energy and power.
4. Shri Ram Janki Mandir
Shri Ram Janki temple is a calm and nice place to visit where you can find spiritual environment. In spite of being newer than the other historical temples in Ujjain, the architecture of the temple attracts visitors.
5. Mangalnath Temple
The Mangalnath temple in Ujjain is a highly significant place for being the birthplace of Planet Mars. People having ‘mangal dosh’ in their horoscopes are recommended to come here and have ‘shanti pooja’ done for ‘mangal’ by expert priests.
6. Ram Ghat
Ram Ghat is a holy ghat in Ujjain which is of great importance for holy bath. Especially, this ghat is a preferred bathing place for people during the Kumbh Mela.
7. Sandipani Ashram
A place of interest for greenery lovers and picnic bees in Ujjain is Sandipani Ashram. This is a place of historical importance for being the education place of Lord Krishna and Balarama.
