Here, we hear from this young girl, Andrea about what made her start with Green and Turquoise and know a bit more about her passion for travelling!
1. Tell Me About Yourself And Your Travel Journey So Far.
I’m Andrea, a 20-something girl living in Milan, full-time university student and creator of the blog Green and Turquoise. I’ve been traveling the world since I was 2 years old, all thanks to my lovely parents, who influenced and increased my passion for travel and different cultures. Over the past twenty years I’ve had the chance to travel all over the world, meet so many incredible people and do things that I could have only dreamed of. This past 2 years I was fortunate enough to visit amazing places like Rio de Janeiro, New York, Dubrovnik, Mostar, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Paris, and I hope 2015 will be as good, if not better!
2. What Does Your Blog Name ‘Green And Turquoise’ Stand For?
Well, to explain this, I have to make a digression. I’m a little bit obsessed with maps, atlas and geography reference books. Have been since I was a kid. I collect maps from wherever I go, and whenever I have to decide where my next adventure is taking me I always end up browsing my favourite atlas. I mean, it’s my old atlas from school, it’s not even that detailed, but I love it anyway. So, when I was thinking about my blog’s name I was actually browsing my loved atlas, looking at those greenish and turquoise colours of the land and sea…and that was it! I thought that combination would have been perfect for my blog.Besides, both green and turquoise are, of course, prevalent in natural landscapes, which are definitely my primary source of inspiration.
3. What Kind Of Travel Stuff You Share At Your Blog?
I mostly write about my personal travel experiences and adventures, offering related tips and advices. My wish sharing my photos and my stories inspire actual adventure, awareness and interest and help in pushing people to get out into the world and to explore things themselves, to live the life they really want to live.
4. Have You Ever Been To India?
Sadly, I’ve never been to India, but it’s definitely on my bucket list and I really hope to get there someday soon! It has always been my dream to visit the Taj Mahal, but I would love to see Hawa Mahal, the Agra Fort and The Red Fort too.
5. What Do You Know About India? Share Your Personal Opinion About India Being Rich In Culture & Tradition.
India is probably one of the most interesting places to visit in the world. I’m really fascinated by Indian history and architecture as well, I love how complex and how detailed it is. Also, I think the most beautiful thing about India (and the main reason I would love to visit it so much) is its diversity. So many different people, different food, different languages, different religions. It’s so charming.
6. Can You Suggest Some Destinations To Visit In Your Country?
Basically you can’t go wrong with Italy, the entire country is amazingly beautiful. But if I had to pick my 3 favourite places, I’d say Rome, Florence and the northern area of Sardinia, where you can find the best beaches in the country. Also Venice and Manarola are pretty cool.
7. Tell About One Of Your Most Favorite Travel Destinations You Have Made So Far And Why?
I don’t care where I am, where I live or what language I’m speaking. I will always think about Rio de Janeiro as my ‘hometown’ (I have dual citizenship) and as the most beautiful place in the world, no doubts about it. Its breath-taking landscapes, historic monuments, its beautiful beaches and the joy of his people…just thinking about it give me chills!
8. What Inspires You To Travel?
I read a lot of travel blogs. Like too many. They keep me inspired, giving me a very long list of places to visit in the future. Then I am also really inspired by Travel Magazines like National Geographic and CondeNaste. Recently I started to use Instagram as a sort of travel guide, as I discovered that Instagram hash tags are some of the most useful things I can take advantage of when I’m visiting a new place.
9. What Kind Of Stuff Do You Explore During Your Journey?
I guess it depends on the destination, but generally I like to explore the cultural diversity of a city through its architecture and its museums. I feel it’s important to learn about the history of a location as well, as it helps you to understand the beliefs and values of the people who live there. Also, if I think about it, I realize that the experiences I loved the most involved spectacular sunsets, beautiful landscapes and outdoor adventures.
